How to cook for less than £2 a day for a week in about 10 minutes

Screen Shot 2015-02-25 at 13.40.40

As a student I know how tight money is rent day but there is no reason for you to starve in order to keep a roof over your head, when you can eat healthily for less than the price of 2 Jagerbombs.

  1. Buy your ingredients in bulk, this means that you can freeze any extras for another day without them going off.
  • You will need:
  • 1X Bag of frozen peppers
  • Pre-prepared stir fry pork
  • Large packet of egg noodles
  • Jar/sachet of sauce of your choice
  • 1x saucepan
  • 1x frying pan
  1. Firstly, put a drop of sunflower oil into your frying pan, add a handful of the pork and continuously stir. Meanwhile add one portion of noodles to your saucepan with 250ml of water, when water boils turn down the heat and allow simmering.
  1. When the meat is no longer pink add a handful of peppers and continue stirring until meat has browned and peppers are no longer frozen. This should only take 5 mins. Add sauce to the pan stirring on a slightly lower heat to avoid it sticking to your pan.
  1. By now your noodles should be ready to be drained, use a collindar or if you don’t have one drain the water with a pan lid. Add noodles to the meat and stir in until fully mixed. If you want to experiment with herbs or spices add them now.
  1. Carefully pour onto a plate and enjoy your meal, put all left over meant and frozen veg into either the freezer/fridge and enjoy throughout the week as a substitute to your usual weekly Chinese. Alternatively cook a big batch and store in tubs so you don’t have to cook.

OOTD: Leather me up.

Excuse the gormless look on my mug, this is my latest eBay bargain – as far as I’m aware this skirt/similar versions are still being sold at Topshop for £40+ but I bagged mine for £9.50!  Remember the first rule of online shopping: Check eBay first! The vest top I’m wearing was £1 from H&M – YES £1 – WTF RIGHT?!

These leather look skirts are excellent for adding a bit of texture and sass to any boring outfit and can be paired with almost anything, it’s just a case of being creative and resourceful with what you’ve already got. I will be making this little number a staple piece from now on!

ASOS Sale Haul

So, this year saying the January sales have been disappointing would be a massive understatement and I was left feeling slightly down about my lack of bargains – that is until I found the ASOS sale! Over 70% off on literally thousands of items, I could’ve kitted myself out for the next two years, no problem!

So at a grand total of £37 these are what I purchased…

The most expensive of my purchases was this gorgeous cobalt scarf-print dress for about £27, from ASOS it’s self. It’s one of those dresses you can wear any season and to any occasion so I consider this a cheap investment rather than a drain on my bank balance 😉

Next up is this bargain at about £7.50, it looks ridiculously good on- I was actually quite shocked! In fact I may well order the blue version of it before it’s out of stock – (if it’s not already).

Last but not least this tee by Jacqueline De Yong, there are 2 things I justified this buy with…

  1. It was £3.50 … no I’m not high, it really was £3.50!
  2. ‘H’ is my 2nd initial so..
  3. Ok there’s 3 reasons, I just really wanted it okay – quit it with the 3rd degree man

Also you may be wondering why my walls are manky and unpainted/wallpapered – no I don’t live in a crack den, my wall had damp so my parents started drying it out whilst I was at uni!

DIY: Clovey Oranges

.

Image

Okay so these are literally the most basic things to make ever, a monkey could easily do this and I’m not joking

So firstly all you need are two things – can you guess what?

YES, that’s right all you need are some cloves which you can get really cheaply from your local health food shop and an orange/satsuma or something like that

Image

Please excuse my awful nails, I didn’t realise they’d gotten so bad and quite frankly I don’t really care. So anyway, decide on a design for your orange or whatever poor fruit you’ve decided to stab your cloves into. You could pencil on your design if you’re a bit OCD or whatever, or if like me you’re just in this for the fun then go freestyle baby! I’ve gone for a wonky heart design on this occasion, I did debate going for something phallic but thought it might be a bit inappropriate haha

Then just fill in the space and VOILA

5 reasons why you need to get a beanie …

Image

Firstly I just wanna say that until recently I HATED beanies, I think it was because of their hipster connotations, the fact that people were wearing them during summer and that a lot of them were branded with: “YOLO” or “LOL”  – which I cannot be doing with. In all honesty I think the thing which ‘turned me’ to beanies was having a 9am lecture on a Monday morning every week, meaning that I’d usually wake up late, stumble to the kitchen for breakfast, maybe have a shower if I had time, slap on a bit of foundation and whatever clothes are lying around. I don’t like having to choose between either having to go in with greasy hair or no make up so I feel like the beanie is a perfect disguise for the tragic 9am bad hair days.

Okay so why should you invest?…

  1. They’re so cheap, mine was about £3 from Primark and it’s soooooo snug!
  2. They’re warm and stop your ears getting frostbite and falling off – never a good look guys, trust me
  3. BAD HAIR DAY DISGUISE
  4. You can get away with wearing them alongside most autumn/winter outfits, especially in black
  5. They’re practical AND make your forehead look significantly smaller, I know this because mine is HUGE!

Topshop have got a pretty good selection of them at the moment, I particularly like the cable knit ones, might have to treat myself again…
